Jewish Secular Community Discussion Group
The Jewish Secular Community Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, March 10, from 7 to 8:45 pm at the Beachwood Library. The topic for that meeting will be “Explaining the Philosophy of Humanistic Judaism.” The discussion will concentrate on the views of Yaakov Malkin, as expressed in his lectures and book, “Epicurus and Apikorsim: The Influence of the Greek Epicurus and Jewish Apikorsim on Judaism.” The discussion group is open to the public and welcomes all who are interested. The Mandel Jewish Day School 27th Annual Benefit Auction
The Mandel Jewish Day School (formerly Agnon) is excited to host its 27th annual silent and live auctions on Sunday, April 10, 6 pm at Landerhaven. This is the school’s largest event of the year. In the past three years, the auction has raised more than $1,220,000 from soldout crowds of 350+ parents, grandparents and community patrons. Proceeds fund tuition assistance, student programming and special projects for the Mandel Jewish Day School, serving more than 350 students hailing from 20+ local communities. H&R Block Launches New Brand
H&R Block recently hosted an open house at its new Beachwood location at which consumers were introduced to Block Advisors, the innovative new H&R Block brand that provides year-round support to individuals and small businesses. The new office is located at 23811 Chagrin Blvd., Ste. 340, in Chagrin Plaza East. In recognition of this opening, Mayor Merle S. Gorden and City Council proclaimed Thursday, Jan. 14, as “Block Advisors – Tax and Business Services Day” in the City of Beachwood.
