2014-2015 Student Achievements Class of 2015 • • • • • • • • • Class Size: 113 students 100% graduation rate Awarded nearly $5.5 million in scholarships 2 National Merit Semi-Finalists; 3 National Merit Commended Students 71 students earned AP Scholars honors or better in 2015 Beachwood High School’s Science Olympiad team placed in the top ten at the Ohio Science Olympiad state tournament For the third consecutive year, Beachwood High School’s student newspaper earned the Ohio Scholastic Media Association’s first-place rating in addition to the first-place spot for its news website, www.bcomber.org. BHS’s Marketing Class was named “Company of the Year” by Junior Achievement for their year-long public art project celebrating the Beachwood Centennial. A first-year team of 5th graders finished first in the State competition for Destination Imagination. The team went on to place 7th (out of 77 teams) in its category at the Global Finals. A BHS Senior won an international film competition for the second time during her high school career. For the 8th consecutive year, Beachwood Schools have been named among the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education. Boys soccer won a school record 14 games and advanced to the Elite 8 Regional finals. Boys Varsity Tennis sent two doubles teams to the state tournament for the first time ever. Girls Varsity Basketball won the CVC Championship. A boys swimmer broke a school record in the 50 meter freestyle and was only the second male swimmer to qualify for states in the last 25 years. Girls Varsity Track ran at State tournament in three races: 4x200 meter relay, the 200 meter dash and the 100 meter dash.
