Programs at The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place is a caring community that supports, educates and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge. The programs and services offered provide education and information, support, and tools to help manage the stress of a cancer diagnosis. The Gathering Place has two locations in Beachwood and a location in Westlake. Below is a listing of upcoming programs at The Gathering Place located at 23300 Commerce Park in Beachwood. For more information, visit www.touchedbycancer.org. KidShop/TeenShop • 2nd and 4th Mondays, 6:30-7:30 pm A workshop for children and teens who have an adult family member with cancer. Utilizing art, play and discussion, children, teens and their parents interact with families in similar situations. Register by calling 216.595.9546. Group for Caregivers • Tuesdays, 6:30-8 pm A weekly group that provides support and opportunities to connect with individuals who are supporting/caring for an loved one with a cancer diagnosis. Finding Your Way through the Challenges of BRCA Thursday, March 31, 6:30-8 pm Join clinical psychologist Karen Hurley, PhD as she shares tips and tools for managing the challenges of BRCA including making the decision to test, making medical and surgical decisions, coping with risk, talking with family, and the emotional impact of BRCA.
