WIN Cleveland Annual Benefit Luncheon to benefit Providence House of Cleveland
WIN Cleveland, a premier women’s networking organization, will host its annual Benefit Luncheon fundraiser at Executive Caterers of Landerhaven on Thursday, November 10 from 11 am to 2 pm. Enjoy a day of networking with Cleveland-area professional women, a silent auction, Chinese raffle and a delicious lunch. Each year, WIN Cleveland donates a portion of its proceeds to a local women’s charity and Providence House, a crisis nursery center in Cleveland, has been chosen as this year’s recipient. Its mission is to fight and end child abuse and neglect by protecting at-risk children, empowering single mothers and families in crisis and building safer communities for every child. Special guest speaker Susie Bauer, external relations director of Providence House, will talk about the organization’s successes and how hundreds of children and families have been helped through its programming. Pre-sale tickets are $45 before October 28 and $55 after. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.wincleveland.org. Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses wanting to gain more exposure to WIN’s 900 + members. WIN Cleveland empowers female professionals by creating new access points for individual business development. Members support each other by providing continual professional growth, by sharing ideas and resources, and by assisting select women-based charities within our community. Councilwoman Sunny Simon recently held an informative town hall meeting at the Beachwood Community Center, attended by District 11 residents who were interested in learning more about environmental sustainability. Mike Foley, director of the Department of Sustainability and David Beach, director of the Green City, Blue Lake Institute of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, reviewed the County’s new sustainability toolkit that was developed to help residents and local governments address various energy and environmental matters in their cities. Toolkit topics include air quality, energy, food, green building and historic preservation, land use and development, solid waste, transportation, trees and land management and watershed issues. The toolkit has local links to subject matter and county experts who have worked on these issues, as well as links to best practices, local examples and model ordinances for quick assistance in addressing specific topics. Foley also talked about the residential solar co-op that the county is helping to form. To download the entire toolkit, visit www.executive.cuyahogacounty.us/ en-US/Sustainable-Cuyahoga.aspx. Shanelle Smith, deputy director of the Sustainability Department, then talked about the Clean Energy Financing Hub, organized by the county, for the purpose of helping cities, businesses and non-profits to add energy efficiency and renewable technologies to their buildings. For more information, contact Smith at 216.443.3785 or ssmith2@cuyahogacounty.us.
