Mandel JCC’s Playmakers Youth Theatre Upcoming Shows
The Mandel JCC’s Playmakers Youth Theatre invites you to attend the following shows at Fairmount Temple, 23737 Fairmount Blvd., Beachwood. Playmakers Youth Theatre, under the direction of the talented Rachel Zake, is a Jewish youth theater program that emphasizes self-confidence, creativity, teamwork and an appreciation for the performing arts among its young performers. For more information, contact Rachel Zake at 216.831.0700 ext. 1494 or rzake@mandeljcc.org. Fools, by Neil Simon Thursday, November 10 • 7 pm and Sunday, November 13 • 2 pm and 7 pm Teacher Leon Tolchinsky arrives in a Russian town only to find out it is cursed. The town has been doomed to be senseless – people are sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses, milking upside down cows, and selling flowers as fish. Tolchinsky has 24 hours to break the curse or he will also fall under its spell. In this comedy of errors and confusion where common phrases are taken literally, will Tolchinsky ever be able to make sense of it all? The Wizard of Oz • Thursday, December 8 through Sunday, December 18 Enjoy this classic tale of a house from Kansas that falls from the sky, ever-altering the land of Oz. Join Playmakers on this journey to find a heart, a brain, courage and, of course, home.

Beachwood Producing ‘Top-Notch’ Divers
Two of Beachwood’s finest divers performed at an amazing level of talent and skill over the summer months on their American Flyers Diving Team, led by Marc Cahalane, in conjunction with the City of Beachwood at the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center. Spencer Bystrom, Beachwood High School sophomore, qualified to the national level and competed in Moultrie Georgia at the USA Diving AT&T National Diving Championships. He placed 12th overall on the Platform (10 meter, 7 meter and 5 meter combination), competing alongside some Olympic trial contenders. He placed 23rd in 3 meter springboard, and 25th in 1 meter overall. Amanda Leizman, Beachwood High School freshman and the newest addition to the Beachwood High School Diving Team, qualified and placed at the 2016 USA Diving Zone C Championships which was held in Ann Arbor Michigan, placing 19th overall on the 5-7-10 meter platform competition and had her personal best score. The Beachwood Bison Swim/Dive Team, under the coaching of Brad Burget, is working toward another state-bound season. Because of growing community interest, Burget now offers diving classes year round. Spaces are limited, so sign up now at http://www.swimcleveland.com and search “Olympic Style Diving.”
